For the last 15 years I’ve been helping women transform their bodies and lives through www.getactiveonline.com.

At 44 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and due to my hormone treatment was forced full on into menopausal symptoms. To say it was hard, is an understatement.  Hormone Replacement Therapy wasn’t an option for me as I had a hormone based breast cancer. It meant my only option was to manage my menopausal symptoms naturally to help me regain some quality of life.

The great news is after lots of research I discovered there has been lots of studies done into diet and lifestyle changes to help perimenopausal and menopausal women manage menopause.

I’m excited to have put all the information I discovered into a practical and simple plan to help you thrive during menopause!

WHAT IS THE MENOPAUSE DIET?

The Menopause Diet is a specific nutrition plan designed to help women going through perimenopause and menopause. You will get specific guidelines on what foods to include, quantities, meal ideas and recipes. I have also included two options – The 28 Day Fast Fat Loss Plan which is designed for maximum fat loss in 28 days. You will also get the Lifestyle Plan which can be commenced at the end of your 28 days. The Lifestyle Plan allows for more variety and treats than the 28 Day Fat Loss Plan.  As part of the program, you also get tips on managing menopausal symptoms and recommended lifestyle changes. I do recommend women include some exercise to create a more balanced, healthy lifestyle and have included a training program in The Midlife Makeover.

HOW IS THE MENOPAUSE DIET DELIVERED?

The Menopause Diet will be delivered as an instant download and you will have access to the private Facebook Group for support.

The Midlife Makeover program is more comprehensive and is delivered online through our coaching app. This includes daily lessons and tasks to complete.  If you are doing the VIP coaching option, you will be required to submit weekly feedback including a food and exercise diary. This will be done via the app or email and you will be provided a feedback email template.

We have provided the program materials as instant downloads and files you can access in the private Facebook group and app. We want this to work for everyone. Some love technology and others don’t 😁.

wHAT IS THE BEST DIET FOR MENOPAUSAL WOMEN?

Your menopsaual symptoms will be impacted by what you eat and your lifestyle choices. Their has been studies to show that a nutrient dense diet similar to the Mediterranean Diet helps to reduce severity of menopausal symptoms along with promoting overall health. The Menopause Diet focusses on a nutrient rich diet but also working on lifestyle factors that will also assist.

What foods should I avoid during menopause?

During perimenopause and menopause you want to avoid foods that rigger menopause symptoms. This varies for each woman but there are some common triggers you might want to limit;

  • Alcohol
  • Spicy Food
  • Sugar
  • Processed carbohydrates

Don’t panic, you don’t have to give up all the good stuff! It just means you need to be aware of how certain foods aaffect your menopausal symptoms and learn how much and when you can include your favourite treats.

What is the best way for a menopausal woman to lose weight?

My biggest tip is to realise your hormones and metabolism are not what they were in your 20’s and 3o’s. This means you can’t eat or do what you did in your younger years and expect the same results.

First step is to become aware of what you are doing now. Try keeping a food diary and taking note of all the extras that might creep in, your portion sizes, when you feel great and what food don’t make you feel great.

Be honest with yourself and when embarking on the menopause diet give the Fast Fat Loss a solid go for at least two weeks to see how your body responds and how you feel.

Also, realise that making changes can feel uncomforable and hard at first. Once you get past the first week I promise you will start to feel better but you will have to feel a bit uncomfortable first.

Ultimatley you will get results by eating a diet full on nutrient dense food and ensuring your stress, sleep and self care are all in check.
